The Church & New Churchyard

The Church

It is a place of regular worship - many country churches no longer have services every week.

It is used by the community for baptisms, weddings and funerals. It is the largest building in the village and is also used for concerts and other events.

The church is open every day for prayer and quiet reflection, and for visitors to look round - it is not locked as some churches have had to be.

St Mary the Virgin has served the local community for almost 800 years, as a place for people to express their joys and sorrows, celebrations and thanksgiving. Our forbears provided this church, now it's our turn to make sure it is looked after.

Even if you are not a regular churchgoer this magnificent building and its churchyard is still there for everyone.

Upgrade to the New Churchyard

The project has brought into use for everyone a large area at the back of our churchyard, which is in the middle of the village, unused and was in poor condition. The design is for it be an attractive and peaceful place with walkways through trees and central seating and a raised garden. The clearance and pergola phases are done and we are now seeking financial help with the remaining phases for walkways.
